Spring 2015 | Rebecca Minkoff

Ethereal princess and upper east side prepsters rejoice, Rebecca Minkoff just supplied you with a closet filled with enviable pastels. There is little surprise when it comes to the beauty of this collection, Minkoff has been sending her romantic urban creations down the runway since 2009 with nothing but praise from the critics.

This collection is no exception. The classic white shirt is no stranger to this line-up of Hampton Chic dresses and endless Summer nights on Brooklyn rooftops. Rebecca is a bred New York designer, and all these looks fit seamlessly into the city she adores.

Here are some of my favorites. Share yours in the comments.

Happy Fashion Week.

P.s. I took a week off of daily posts because I was a sickly mess who couldn’t bare to type. Happy to get back in the game this week.

Prabal Gurung’s serene reds.

Thank God for Style.com‘s relentless coverage of New York’s fashion week. I couldn’t imagine not being blessed with the majesty that is Prabal Gurung, who just recently obtained citizenship in the ole US of A. Even though he now resides in the city that made him a fashion icon, his collection is still very much a reflection of foreign travels. If anyone had ever doubted fashion as a viable art form, this collection would invoke some serious doubts.

Happy NYFW.

Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2014 Runway Show.

I became a fan of Rebecca Minkoff sometime last year, her sensible-chic sense of style lured me in, but her hard edge and affinity for bags is what kept me coming back. Her Fall 2014 runway show just solidified my fan girl status. I can’t wait to hit the racks come September.

Shop Rebecca Minkoff here.

I’m about to treat myself to this little beauty. My wardrobe is already full of black bags so I figured a little Marigold would do me some good. How perfect is this color for Spring?

How to wear overalls without looking like a hipster farmer.

Overalls have slowly been creeping back into our closets ever since high fashion brands started sending versions of the farming staple down the runway. It was only a matter of time before they landed in your local shopping mall, but with so many retailers trying their hand at the immersing trend, it’s easy to lose your way.

The key to the modern overall is to stay away from anything too baggy and pair them with a feminine blouse or  T-shirt (a classic white button-up would work well too). Try to steer clear of plaid and tank-tops. Your look could easily turn into a Halloween costume if you choose the wrong top.

Check out some of my favorites here:

This low-rise distressed version is definitely for a more daring lady. Pair it with a tight t-shirt or cropped-top.

How to dress like a French Girl with 6 (affordable) items.

We have all longed to be that proverbial French girl, roaming the streets of Paris with a cappuccino in  hand,  huge Chanel sunglasses and a Céline bag effortlessly slung over your shoulder. French style has always had a sort of laid back elegance us Americans  strive for. And although a $2,000 designer bag may be the holy grail for some, for others it is simply an unattainable expense (Cough.Cough. ME!). However, I refuse to put my Parisian fantasy to rest! So I’ve done some investigating to bring you six affordable items closer to being très chic.

The Sunglass:

A pair of Chanel frames such as these can set you back a cool $600.

Instead you can pick up these sunnies at Brass Plum in Nordstroms for only $22.

The Makeup:

If you haven’t figured it out already, the key to classic French style is simplicity. However, a bright bold lip adds just the right amount of color for a day at The Louvre.

This Dior lip color in Minuit is sure to turn heads at $36.

Revlon offers a fabulous alternative at only $7.99.

Now for the totals…

Designer Duds- $4,251

Affordable Alternatives- $194.88

As a rule, you always want to spend more $$$ on shoes and pants. A quality pair of shoes will be a staple in your closet for years to come, and pants have the ability to make or break an outfit. Worry less about the size and more about the fit. Well tailored dress pants are a must in everyones wardrobe. Pick the highest quality you’re able to afford and treat yourself!

P.s. Stay tuned for Fashion Week posts. Only a few weeks away!
